What is pre molar?

The premolars or bicuspids are transitional teeth located between the canine and molar teeth in humans. They have a flat surface with two pointed cusps (tall peaks) on the chewing surface. There are eight premolars in total, four in each quadrant of the mouth. The premolars are important for grinding and chewing food. They also help to maintain proper alignment of the teeth and prevent overcrowding in the mouth. In some cases, premolars may need to be extracted to make room for orthodontic treatment or if they are impacted or decayed.
